The Return Of Yellow Journalism
Yellow Journalism or The Yellow Press, to a significant extent practiced by the 19th century publishing giant, William Randolph Hearst, is described or defined by Wikipedia as the American term for journalism and associated newspapers that present little or no legitimate, well-researched news while instead using eye-catching headlines for increased sales. Techniques may include exaggerations of news events, slander mongering or sensationalism. A major purpose of Yellow Journalism is to sway public opinion.
An article by The Public Domain Review at www.publicdomainreview.org and titled “Yellow Journalism: The ‘Fake News’ of the 19th Century” further defines “fake news” as media outlets adopting sensationalism to the point of fantasy all in the best tradition of William Randolph Hearst, who was a rank amateur compared to today’s Yellow Journalists in print and on cable and the manipulation of news and people.
However, this time it’s not for the purpose of selling newspapers. The intent of today’s Yellow Journalists is to bring down a sitting president and the subversion of the Constitution of the United States.
